DESCRIPTION:Seja X/S um esquema relativo e V uma distribuição relativa: um subfeixe do tangente T_{X/S} cujo co-núcleo é sem torção. Gostaríamos de saber se o lugar L dos pontos s em S onde o feixe tangente da distribuição V_s induzida na fibra X_s é livre é um aberto de S. A resposta é\, em geral “não”. Contudo\, forçando a codimensão do conjunto singular a ser {\it suficientemente pequena}\, podemos garantir que o feixe tangente é\, pelo menos\, localmente livre. Impondo condições sobre o esquema de Picard é possível mostrar\, finalmente\, que L é aberto. Isto nos permite as seguintes aplicações: Para muitas variedades de Borel complexas\, (excluem-se os diagramas de Dynkin com número de Coxeter pequeno) o número de componentes irredutíveis de um “espaço de folheações” é no mínimo igual ao número de órbitas nilpotentes da álgebra de Lie simples associada. O interesse em investigar variedades com muitos pontos racionais transcende o escopo teórico\, resultando em avanços significativos na teoria de códigos\, criptografia\, geometria finita e\noutras áreas. Nesta palestra\, com foco especial no estudo das curvas\, iremos abordar os fundamentos teóricos desses objetos\, discutir resultados clássicos e alguns mais recentes sobre estimativas de pontos racionais\, além de explorar problemas em aberto.

SUMMARY:Automorphic Green’s functions and regulators of elliptic curves - Jeanine van Order (PUC-Rio)
DESCRIPTION:The refined conjecture of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer predicts a relation between the regulator of an elliptic curve and the leading term in the Taylor series expansion around s=1 of its Hasse-Weil L-function. I will explain how such relations can be derived in the special case of rank one\, including some new results for elliptic curves over abelian extensions of real quadratic fields.

SUMMARY:Álgebras de blowup de certos ideais determinantais - Zaqueu Ramos (UFS)
DESCRIPTION:Resumo: Álgebras de blowup  de um ideal são objetos que desempenham papel em diversos contextos (estudo de propriedades assintóticas de ideais\, dependência integral\, estudo da imagem e do gráfico de um mapa racional\, etc). No contexto dos ideais determinantais essas álgebras são consideravelmente bem compreendidas quando as matrizes que os definem satisfazem condições fortes de genericidade. Recentemente\, muita investigação vem sendo feita  para entender as álgebras de blowup de ideais determinantais satisfazendo condições mais fracas. Nessa palestra falarei sobre alguns resultados recentes obtidos nessa direção. Parte da palestra são resultados  de trabalho em colaboração com A Simis (UFPE) e outra parte de  resultados em colaboração com J. Teles (UPE) e A. Dósea (IFSE).

DESCRIPTION:Register for livestream access\n\n\n\n\nAbstract: Over the past few decades\, there has been significant exploration of the interplay between geometry and partial differential equations. In particular\, some problems arising in conformal geometry\, such as the classical Yamabe problem\, can be reduced to the study of PDEs with critical exponent on manifolds. More recently\, the so-called Q-curvature equation\, a fourth-order elliptic PDE with critical exponent\, is another class of conformal equations that has drawn considerable attention by its relation with a natural concept of curvature.
